2021 Carversville Farm Turkeys

It’s hard to believe, but Thanksgiving is fast approaching.  This year’s gatherings may be a little different,  but we have you covered.  Both whole turkeys and turkey parts are available for pre-order this Thanksgiving through the CFF Farm Store. The turkey parts are from Broad Breasted turkeys only. The Heritage birds are only available as whole birds.  We have our Broad Breasted and Heritage turkeys available at various sizes.  We ask that you select both type and size online, pay a $40.00 deposit to hold your bird, and pay the balance (total less deposit) at pickup.

Pickup will be Monday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 23 from 1pm-5pm and Wednesday, November 24 from 9am-5pm.

A little information about our Turkeys:

Certified Organic Broad Breasted White Turkeys – $6.50 per pound

These are the big ones with which you may be most familiar. Our turkeys are rotationally run on certified organic pasture and eat a diverse diet of fresh grass, seeds, insects, worms and certified organic grain.

Harvested at about 16 weeks of age, our Broad Breasted Whites typically weigh 14 to 20 pounds. Their meat is mild, flavorful and very tender.

Certified Organic Heritage Turkeys – $12.00 per pound

Our Heritage turkeys, Bourbon Reds turkeys, are the livestock equivalent of an “heirloom” vegetable. A historic breed left behind by modern agriculture, they are prized for their rich flavor and beautiful plumage.  Harvested at about 24 weeks of age, our Heritage turkeys typically weigh 6 to 12 pounds (medium birds) or 14 to 18 pounds (large birds). This turkey has a rich, delicious flavor and is prized by both chefs and our customers alike.

Because our turkeys are raised outdoors, they do cook more quickly than store-bought birds. We include instructions to avoid overcooking.

All turkeys are air chilled, which makes for better tasting meat and crispier skin when cooked.
